Site No 192 - Camping Don Quijote

5660027791104

This a a smallish site just a short distance from Salamanca. There 86 pitches varying from shady to full sun sized from 70 to 100m2, but at this time of year (late September) we spread ourselves over two pitches and no one seemed worried.  There is a swimming pool, open in season, and the site offers river swimming from a local river “beach”.

The facilities were recently referbished and kept spotlessly clean but no sundries (paper, soap etc.) were provided.

WiFi is available through out the site but gets very slow in the evening when everyone tried to get online, we used our own mobile WiFi and at times this was a little but not much better.

There are local walks along the river and it is possible to cycle into the city.

The restaurant/bar is well used by locals, particularly at the weekends and when we tried it, found it tasty and good value for money.

All in all a site we are happy to recommend with one downside in that you must turn right when exiting the site road onto the main road as you have no clear view of traffic approaching from the right. If solo no great problem but if towing a large caravan or driving a long motorhome there was something like 8.5km before you could spin it round easily and safely if wanting to go left. Needless to say many people turned left in defiance and in hope nothing was coming from the blind side, however the lady restaurant manager says that after 14 years of complaining the authorities have agreed to alter the road layout this winter.
