Site No 176 - Strangers Home Caravan Site.

We have known of this site for many years as it is on a route that we used often when living in the area but this was our first visit to the site, and sadly probably our last. On arrival the site looked spacious with large pitches many of which you could drive straight on and off a great boon when towing an 8m twin axle caravan that at times seems to have a mind of its own, also very handy for the half dozen or so outfits that turned up quite late and were able to stay hitched up for a quick and easy getaway the next morning.

The site is family oriented which, being a grumpy old man, I found to be a right pain as there was constant screaming of kids and in the hour we were shopping a group of the little darlings must have had a water fight as a large area around the water tap was covered in small burst ballon remnants.

The actual Strangers Inn I did not visit so can make no comment but Sue went in to pay our fees and described it as a bit spit and sawdust with no sign of a proper restaurant area.

The facilities could perhaps best be described as "better than nothing, but not much", there was plenty of hot water but all the equipment was worn or broken and the whole block in dire need of a good clean.

This site is very handy for the ferry but if staying at the weekend you may want to check if and if so what live music is planned for the pub during your stay.
